Sarah Olliver
Kia Ora! I'm Sarah, a first year student at the University of Otago, completing a combined Bachelor of Science and Commerce, majoring in Neuroscience and Finance. I'm excited to offer my services as a tutor and would love to help you grow as a learner.
I completed my secondary education at Rangi Ruru Girls' School in Christchurch, though I'm originally from Blenheim. Having been a boarder for five years, I'm familiar with some of the challenges that learning away from home can bring, and I know firsthand how much difference the right support can make. I achieved Excellence endorsements in NCEA Level 1 and 2, and a Merit endorsement in Level 3. I'm particularly passionate about science, and received a Biology scholarship from NZQA in Year 13.
I've had various peer tutoring roles throughout high school, including serving as a senior mentor in the boarding house and taking part in their tutoring programme, where I assisted younger boarders with maths and science. I also held leadership roles that developed my communication skills and my ability to support younger people. As a tutor, I break overwhelming concepts down into simple steps, and encourage the student to ask questions about the topic they are learning. Outside of my university studies, I enjoy road and mountain biking, or simply spending time outdoors with friends!
I am able to offer tutoring in Y9-11 Maths, English and Science, as well as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus and English up to NCEA Level 3.
