Jess Moir
Hi! I’m Jess, a second-year student at the University of Otago studying Biomedical Science majoring in Genetics, Reproduction, and Development. I grew up in Auckland, attending Howick College, before moving to Dunedin to pursue my studies.
I am passionate about science and have developed a strong interest in biology and chemistry throughout my studies. I completed Health Sciences First year at Otago and was awarded an academic excellence award from Cumberland College in recognition of my outstanding academic performance.
I want to help students build confidence in their learning and themselves, enabling them to achieve their goals and reach their full academic potential. I take a supportive approach when working with others, guiding them through challenging concepts with patience and positivity. I recognise everyone has different learning styles and my goal is to create tailored tutoring sessions where students feel engaged, supported, and encouraged to be curious.
I am confident tutoring Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to NCEA Level 3, as well as general Year 9-11 Maths, English, Science and Social Studies.
Outside of my studies I enjoy staying active, cooking, skiing, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. I am excited to share my knowledge and create a positive learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and empowered to succeed!
