Rebecca Harris

Hi! I’m Rebecca, a second-year student at the University of Canterbury studying towards a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BeHons). I plan to specialise in chemical engineering later in my degree. I moved down to Christchurch from Blenheim, where I attended Marlborough Girls College.

I value learning just as much as achieving strong results on paper. I gained excellence endorsements in NCEA Level 1 and 2, and endorsed Level 3. I also attended WieCan (Women in Engineering Can Camp) prior to my final year of high school. Alongside my studies, I was a Year 9 student mentor and a Digital Prefect. I also worked part-time in a garden centre. All three roles taught me how to work with others to create a happy, collaborative and supportive environment.

Outside of my studies, I enjoy getting outdoors whether that be a short walk around the block, biking to Diamond Harbour or going on multi-day tramping trips. I also enjoy playing football, volleyball and basketball. I tried surfing too, but that was in Australia where the fear of sharks seemed to improve my ability to stay on the board! I also love to cook, sew, run, kayak, crochet and garden. Most importantly I love doing all of these things with my favourite people! I believe academic success is not achieved without also being happy and having balance.

I am confident in tutoring Y9-11 Maths, Science and English, as well as L2 Chemistry, Physics and Calculus. I look forward to supporting students to thrive academically.
