Sorell Shand
Kia Ora! My name is Sorell. I’m currently a third-year Medicine student at the University of Otago. I’m excited to offer my tutoring services to students to play a small part in supporting them in achieving their personal goals and grow their confidence.
I’m originally from Christchurch, where I attended St Margaret’s College until 2023. During my time there, I achieved excellence endorsements in NCEA Levels 1, 2, and 3, along with excellence course endorsements in English, Chemistry, Biology, and Physical Education. These results have provided me with a strong base of knowledge and numerous study techniques for approaching different topics, which I’m keen to share with others.
Outside of academic work, I thoroughly enjoy involving myself in sport, including competitive surf lifesaving and field hockey, as well as enjoying the great outdoors, often going on trips, tramping or surfing. I am a firm believer in a balanced lifestyle being the best for one’s success, and have always been a big advocate in terms of learning
Regarding my previous experience being a peer tutor in my time at high school and other roles I have filled since leaving, I am happy to tutor a range of subjects, including Year 9-11 English, Mathematics and Science, NCEA Level 1 Physics and NCEA Level 1-3 English, Biology and Chemistry.
