Toby Burton-Wood

Hi! I’m Toby, a second year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Canterbury. I grew up in Wellington and moved to Christchurch to pursue my studies.

I achieved Excellence endorsed in NCEA Level 1, Merit endorsed in Levels 2 and 3, along with University Entrance. I also achieved course endorsements in Level 3 Calculus (Excellence) and Level 3 Physics (Merit). These results have given me a strong foundation in problem-solving, mathematics, and analytical thinking.

I offer tutoring in Year 9-11 Maths, Year 9-12 English, and Calculus and Physics up to level 3. I focus on creating a supportive and approachable environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I really enjoy helping students build confidence and seeing their understanding grow. I aim to break down difficult concepts into simple steps and adapt my explanations to suit each student, so they can actually understand the “why” behind what they’re learning.
