James Fox

Hi! I'm James, a postgraduate Psychology student at the University of Auckland with a passion for helping students discover that learning can actually be enjoyable.

My background in psychology has given me a deep appreciation for how differently people learn. Some students love structure, some learn through examples, and some just need a concept explained in a way that finally makes sense. My job is to figure out what works for each student and help them build confidence along the way.

I believe the best learning happens when students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether we're tackling difficult concepts, preparing for assessments, or working through homework, I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to challenge themselves.

When I'm not studying, you'll usually find me reading about psychology, working on research projects, or going down fascinating rabbit holes about human behaviour. I enjoy turning complex ideas into simple explanations, and nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student have that "Oh, I get it now!" moment.

I look forward to helping students achieve their goals and develop confidence in their own abilities. I am able to tutor math, biology, geography, and history up to Year 11 (IGCSE), and English, Spanish, and psychology up to Year 13 (A2).
