Finlay Birss

Hey there! My name is Finlay Birss, and I am currently in my third year at the University of Auckland, studying a double major in Applied Mathematics and Environmental Science. Having grown up in the heart of New Zealand's dairy country, Morrinsville, I've developed a deep appreciation not only for the technical aspects of environmental science but also for the ways individuals and communities interact with science, technology, and the environment in their everyday lives. These experiences have shaped both my academic interests and my passion for learning.

Outside of university, I enjoy staying active through rugby, unwinding with a good book, and playing the piano. I also enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for learning and helping others build confidence in subjects they may find challenging.

I'm looking forward to helping students engage with mathematics, physics, chemistry, English, and biology while supporting them in achieving their academic goals. Whether it's building a strong understanding of key concepts, improving problem-solving skills, or preparing for exams, I aim to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students can develop confidence and reach their full potential.
