Cindy Mei
Hi! I’m Cindy, a second-year medical student (MBChB) at the University of Otago. I graduated Dux of St Margaret’s College with an IB score of 43/45. In the IB Diploma, I achieved 7s in Physics HL, Chemistry HL, Biology SL, and Mathematics AA SL, and 6s in English HL and Spanish Ab Initio. I also received 32/34 (A) for my English Extended Essay and am confident in supporting students with Theory of Knowledge(ToK) assessments. For IB students, I am happy to tutor Physics (HL/SL), Chemistry (HL/SL), Biology (SL), Mathematics AA (SL), and English (HL/SL) as well as provide support with the Extended Essay and ToK.
For NCEA students, I can tutor Level 1 across Mathematics, Science, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and selected Level 2 subjects (particularly Physics and Chemistry). I can also work with pre-NCEA students (Years 9–10) to build strong foundations and confidence before senior school.
Throughout high school, I was Academic Prefect and extensively involved in peer tutoring, which strengthened my leadership skills and my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adapt to different learning styles. As a medical student, I continue to refine strong study strategies, discipline, and analytical thinking, which I bring into my tutoring sessions.
Outside of academics, I enjoy going to the beach, reading, and exploring new cafés. I’m friendly, approachable, and genuinely passionate about helping students reach their full potential.
